Indian Restaurant and Take Away
More Info: Despite the fact that the restaurant is situated in the centre of a fairly busy commercial centre, it occupies a fairly quiet spot and is designed to offer the comfort that you would expect of a modern Indian restaurant. Once inside, your reporter was greeted by polite staff who shown us to our table and took our drinks order and filled the glasses with plenty of ice to keep the drinks cool. The restaurant was fully air conditioned which was a welcome relief from the searing sun, the tables were clean and there was no evidence from previous occupants on the table – always a plus point.
The menu was extensive with lots of tempting dishes which were tantalising the taste buds, you cannot eat them all in one visit so our reporter started with the mixed starter which was more than ample for two persons, while his companion opted for the channa puree, both were cooked to perfection and the delicate herbs and spices shone through what was a very satisfying start to our meal.
The staff were very courteous during the starter and kindly offered if we required anything else, their approach was unhurried and we were not under any pressure to finish and move on to the main courses. For the main courses our reporter ordered the delightful Chefs Special Biryani, which lived up to its star billing on the menu, the dish was large in its portion and could quite easily be shared by two people, his companion ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala from the special dishes section of the menu and she certainly agreed that the dish was well cooked and indeed quite special. As a side we each ordered a nan bread from the choice of fourteen different breads on the menu, these were cooked to perfection and has a light feel to them and not at all the heavy feeling that you can often come across in other establishments.
Overall the food and service were excellent and we both agreed that the Bollywood can certainly live up to its name, the food and staff were certainly the stars in what is a very pleasurable dining experience, the prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes more than you would expect, which leaves very little room for desserts.
The restaurant also offers a take away service, you can pop in after a night’s entertainment or you could alternatively telephone your order through and collect a short while after, a take away menu is available and can be collected from inside during opening hours or from a stand on the wall by the main entrance.
Bollywood also offers a Sunday Menu from 13.30 hours to 15.30 hours for €9.95 per person you have a choice of three starters, any dish from the menu with a choice of two rice’s and a choice of two nans, which all adds up to good value meal on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
